RadioCaley.com tooks Chris Jericho interview and discussed with him a number of interesting topics. Here are some of the highlights:
On whether or not he has anything left to do after being in a successful band, wrestling at the top, etc.: "It's funny, because I never really looked at it as some big laudnry list of things to do. I mean, the only things I wanted to do when I was a kid was I wanted to be in a rock and roll band and I wanted to be a wrestler -- you know, entertainers. That's kind of what I realized I was early, early on in my career. I'm not this, I'm not that, I'm just an entertainer.
"Anything that falls within those boundaries that I feel I can do to the best of my abilities, I'm going to do it. I'm going to give it a try and I'm going to make it work. So, yeah, it's kind of cool to have you list all of those things. I've done a lot of s--t in my time which is cool. But it also comes from the same place of wanting to entertain people and wanting to be a showman."
On what he does with his free time when he has it: "Just spend as much time at home with my family as I can. I'm always doing something, there are always a lot of projects that are dumped in my lap. And I don't accept everything that I get, believe me. Some times, things come up that you just can't say no to and other times things come up that you can't say yes to.
"So, whenever I do have free time, I just like staying home and spending time with my kids and that's the balance. I make it work. When I'm at home, it's kid time and nothing else, nothing else matters. I work hard when I'm on the road and work harder when I'm at home to be the best dad I can be."
On doing a spoken-word piece entitled 'Rock Stars Say The Funniest Things' in London: "Yeah, that was an idea that was presented to me by our booking agency. They got myself, Scotty Inman and Duff McKagan to do three separate shows on three separate nights to do basic spoken-word performances. It's something I've really wanted to do for a while and I'm really looking forward to it. I don't really have a script, per say, in mind.
"I've done a lot of Q&As in the past and I love that side of things. So, I'm going to go out there with a few ideas but I'm just going to go with the audience. We'lll do Q&As and I'll tell stories. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I've written two New York Times bestselling books, two London Times bestselling books of all the experiences that I've had. I'm working on my third one right now. All of those experiences are very, very entertaining whether they're good or bad. I'm not going to hold anything back.
"If you have a question, I'm going to answer it and I'm going to tell you the story of what you want to hear. People are excited about it because everyone wants to be involved. You know, if I could ask Paul McCartney one question knowing that he would answer, what would I ask him? I think it's going to be a great night and the first of many. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm very excited about it."
On performing in Scotland and partying with Scottish wrestler Drew McIntyre: "They really do (know how to party), they absolutely do. Scottish can out-party the Irish every time. We went out a couple of months ago and we were in Abu Dhabi, I was with Drew McIntyre who's a Scottish guy in the WWE. We met a bunch of Irish guys and the Canadian and the Scot guy killed the Irish at drinking. It was awesome. We killed them, it was an annihilation. It was like, ah, the commonwealth. Scotland and Canada win every time. So, we're excited to bring that attitude to Glasgow."
On what Drew McIntyre has to do to reach the potential many see in him: "Just be patient. It's the same thing I went through and a lot of times in the WWE, they go through fazes with guys they do stuff with. You know, you just gotta be patient and know that bigger and better things are coming. Don't lose sight of what's going on and know that things don't just happen quickly a lot of the times. That's good.
"He's going to do just fine, it's just a matter of finding the right thing for him to do and you gotta have a good attitude. Just work as hard as you can with whatever it is that you're given."
On what will come first: his new book, another Fozzy album or a return to Monday Night Raw: "Well, there won't be a return to Monday Night Raw anytime soon. My whole schedule now is based around Fozzy. So, I think probably -- the book is what we're working on now and we're already writing songs for the next record. So, I'd say those two are probably going to happen before I ever come back to the WWE. And if I do come back to the WWE, it's just going to be for a short term, that's just the way it is now.
"If Fozzy's taking a break making a new record, maybe I'll come back. But, until then, wrestling is kind of the last thing on my plate. I've got so many other things going on. Most of it is Fozzy at this point in time and that's the way I want it."
On whether or not he enjoyed his matches with Dolph Ziggler: "Yeah, I enjoyed them. I think I'd like to have more of them with him to kind of get more inside of his head. We only had two matches and you can never really get a feel for someone but I got an idea of what he's all about. He's good, he needs to learn more. Hopefully, I get to work more with him in the future. But, he definitely has a lot of potential."
